This art is based on a photography taken by the well-known pioneer French archaeologist Claude-Joseph Désiré Charnay (2 May 1828 – 24 October 1915) to Mexico City in 1858. This historical view is considered one of the first panoramic pictures done to that city using of a camera. Charnay's name is a renowned earliest academic reference in Mesoamerica due to his explorations, giving an outstanding archaeological and historical perspective supported by images. This traveller is also considered being one of the few forerunners on the uses of photography to document archaeological discoveries. Indeed, many other scholars have followed his techniques across history in this region.
