In 1549, Fray Bernandino de Sahagun began assembling the Florentine Codex, also known as The History of the Things of New Spain, in collaboration with the Nahua elders and Christianize indigenous who were trained in Latin, Spanish and Nahuatl. In 1569, all the information gathered were assembled in twelve books, that use paintings and pictographs to express indigenous ideas and specific components of Nahuat culture. Sahagun's project was completed in 1579, and sent it to Spain. Today, this is one of the most remarkable books about Mesoamerican cultures.

This beautiful art print created by hand is printed on 8 x 10 inches. This matte, museum-quality  artwork is printed on durable, velvety, archival paper. This art also includes a small caption that you can show when it is displayed or you can cover it with the framed mat.

We offer one single size, but if there is a specific size you would prefer, please contact us and we will do our best to meet your needs!

Our print is shipped in a tube. Frame is not included, but we will also be happy to give you some suggestions about framing shapes, mat colours and material for this kind of illustration.
