Here is an excerpt from a band used to decorate a prehispanic piece of "Copador" style created during the late Classic period (600-800 AD) in the Mesoamerican southeast. Its referes to a priest in a seated position, wearing his ceremonial clothes. It is admirable the simplicity of this decorative style used by the ancient Mayan craftsmen, devised with rustic instruments and colors coming from minerals and natural materials.Despite its simplicity, the lucidity of its lines makes clear the decorative idea and the transmission of a message related to ceremony and beauty in art.
