Description:

These signs, also called "pseudo-glyphs" are part of a band decoration on the Copador pottery style that popped up on the Maya periphery during the Late Classic period.  According to some experts, these beautiful sings have been made by multiple different artists, always keeping the same decoration pattern. It can be found in a variety of ceremonial vessels coming from archaeological contexts. Some scholars have suggested that pseudo-glyphs may be due to the different level of epigraphy skill mastery, with non-meaning yet. In fact, so far there have beena poor investigation about the real meaning of these signs, which is a constantly repeated pattern in one of the most popular pottery decoration during the late Classic period in the South-eastern region of Mesoamerica, being in fact part of ancient cultural identity reflected on archaeological artifacts. Its manning, for many archaeologists, remain a real mystery.
